Head of Diversity & Inclusion

We are looking for a Head of Diversity & Inclusion to join our Samaritans team. As Head of Diversity & Inclusion, you will play a leadership role in creating positive change across the Samaritans family by championing a collaborative approach to Diversity & Inclusion.

Suicide and mental health issues can affect us at any time, no matter who we are, or whatever our background.  That is why diversity and inclusion will be at the heart of our new strategy.

  • Permanent
  • £60,000 per annum plus employee benefits 
  • Full time, 35 hours per week
  • We embrace flexible working
  • Location: We have office locations in Ewell, Surrey, and London Bridge but help our staff to work when they want, where they want, provided they can achieve their work outcomes. We are therefore open to discussing options regarding location and working pattern
  • Currently, during COVID-19, most of our staff are working remotely, which we anticipate will continue for the foreseeable future

The Role

This role offers a brilliant opportunity to bring your skills, knowledge and lived experience of Diversity and inclusion to help our charity make the change we need to see diversity and inclusion embed through our practice and behaviours.

We are in the early stages of our diversity and inclusion journey and there is much to do. But you will have the full support of our board, CEO and leadership group and will work alongside many talented colleagues and in partnership with a community of amazing volunteers who are all hugely dedicated to achieving our vision.

As a Samaritans employee, you’ll be part of an established charity which for over 60 years has been delivering services to some of the most vulnerable people across the UK and Republic of Ireland.  Our mission is to reduce the number of people who die by suicide and we pride ourselves in taking a leading role in influencing suicide prevention policy and practice.  We have 201 branches and over 20,000 volunteers answering a call for help every six seconds, 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Our amazing volunteers are supported by a team of around 200 paid staff.
