Data Analyst

We are looking for a Data Analyst to join our Digital Listening Service team to inform continuous improvement in our services. As Data Analyst, you’ll analyse data and communicate insights, plus inform our work in research, fundraising, communications, partnerships and influencing. You’ll play a key role in supporting the Samaritans vision that fewer people die by suicide.

Key projects within the team include our multi-channel CRM platform, which allows volunteers to answer telephone calls, online chats and emails within one platform.  We are also rolling out Online Chat, as well as looking at digital outreach and several other exciting developments. 

  • £35,000 - £38,000 per annum plus benefits
  • Permanent role
  • Full time (35 hours per week)
  • Linked to either our office in Ewell, Surrey or London Bridge, with the majority of time spent working from home
  • We are open to flexible working requests

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand the needs of users for data analysis and reporting
  • Provide regular reports and document these
  • Summarise and present data and conclusions in the most appropriate format for users
  • Apply tools and techniques for data analysis and data visualisation
  • Identify, collect and migrate data to and from a range of systems
  • Manage, clean, abstract and aggregate data
  • Identify patterns and insights based on data models and projections

We are keen to hear from candidates who have demonstrable experience of:

  • Understanding users and identifying what their needs are, based on evidence
  • Managing stakeholder needs and expectations (able to pre-empt amount of work required, join related requests together, and manage expectations on timings)
  • Creating, editing and managing multiple data reports, plus document processes and decisions
  • Understand how to prepare and cleanse data, ensuring data is accurate and fit for purpose
  • Identifying and applying the most appropriate analytical techniques to bring different sources together to tell a story
  • Presenting and communicating findings clearly, using the most appropriate medium to visualise data to tell compelling and actionable stories
  • Degree educated within Maths, Science or Computing (desirable)
