Volunteering Operations, Policy and Development Manager

We are looking for an emotionally intelligent, motivated individual to deliver our exciting objectives for 2024/2025, leading and developing a high-performing team to deliver our ambitious work plan, including critical organisational change projects.

Full-time (35 hours per week)

£47,000 per annum 

18 months Fixed Term Contract (Maternity Cover)

Reports to the Assistant Director of Volunteering

5 direct reports

Hybrid working – Linked to Ewell (Surrey) central office, with a mix of remote working and working within Ewell twice per month

What makes this role unique?

You will lead the Volunteer Services Team in developing and delivering our diverse and inclusive volunteering offer, ensuring that our volunteers are supported and motivated to continue giving their time and are recognised for their contribution, enabling our services to remain sustainable.

As part of this role, you will have the opportunity to be at the forefront of some exciting change projects. These changes aim to improve the experience of our volunteers, and you will collaborate closely with our volunteers, volunteer leadership and staff at all levels across the organisation. Your excellent communication, influencing, and coaching skills will enable you to deliver and embed these changes effectively while supporting the organisation in adopting new volunteer leadership and engagement approaches.

Skills and Experience

Managing, leading and developing individuals and teams with multiple priorities  

Change management methods and practical application 

Problem-solving, negotiation and influencing skills 

Project and programme management and delivery 

Understanding of volunteer leadership structures and volunteering best practices

Developing and implementing volunteer policy, process and guidance

Knowledge of criminal record, safer recruitment and safeguarding legislation and good practice (across the UK, ROI and Scotland)
