Executive Lead (Support after Suicide Partnership)

We are looking for an Executive Lead for the Support after Suicide Partnership (SASP), the only UK-wide network of organisations supporting people bereaved by suicide. 

With over 100 organisations in the network, you will help us achieve SASP’s vision “that everyone bereaved or affected by suicide is offered timely and appropriate support”.  We are determined to achieve this vision and use our unique expertise and that of our members to influence policy, to support the development of local suicide bereavement support services and the continued learning and sharing of best practice in this area.  Leading a small dynamic team, you will be working with an experienced Steering Group, and hosted within Samaritans which means Samaritans employs the staff for SASP, and the SASP team receive all the support and benefits of being a Samaritans staff member. 

  • Full time (35 hours per week) 
  • Permanent role  
  • c. £41,000 plus benefits 
  • Hybrid: most of the time working from home with travel to our offices in Surrey or London

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead SASP into the next stage of its development, working with NHS England and other stakeholders to expand access to suicide bereavement support services, working at the forefront of creating change for thousands of people every year. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Work with the Chair and Steering Group to ensure SASP’s strategy remains ambitious, relevant and impactful and lead the team to ensure excellent delivery of our business plan. 
  • Raise the profile of the SASP and increase our working capacity through collaborations and generating income. 
  • Lead our membership engagement strategy, ensuring members have a positive, enriching experience. 

Skills and Experience: 

We’re looking someone with the ability to bring people together around a common vision and plan, and to think strategically. With outstanding presentation and public speaking skills, you’ll need to become an expert in the field quickly, be able to motivate and influence others and have a high level of empathy. You’ll have an excellent track record of producing work that is on time, fit for purpose, and of the highest standard and will need to be able to navigate and enjoy working with a range of stakeholders to achieve our vision.
