Product Manager – Mass Participation (Virtual Events)

We are looking for a Mass Participation Product Manager to join our Community & Events Fundraising team on a 12 month fixed term contract. This is an exciting new role tasked with leading the delivery and growth of Samaritans’ virtual mass participation products.

  • £40,000- £43,0000 per annum 
  • 12-month fixed term contract (end August 2022)
  • Home-based initially, then a mix of working from home & our office in Ewell (Surrey)

The Team  

Samaritans Community & Events team has more than doubled its income in the last three years and has ambitious plans to continue this growth going forward. With the trend for virtual and hybrid events set to continue in 2021/22 Samaritans continues to further invest in this space, to reach new audiences, build a pipeline of new supporters and grow a sustainable income stream for the future.

2021/22 is a ‘test and learn’ year, building on the product development already begun, whilst developing new pilot activity to build an evidence base and benchmarks that will feed into a longer-term strategy from 2022/23 onwards.

This is an innovative, fast-paced team, moving quickly to pilot, evaluate and evolve its portfolio.

The Role

The Mass Participation Product Manager is a new role within the team, created to support this ambition.  It’s a one-year contract targeted to build on the success of our flagship mass participation product and expand our Facebook Challenges. 

You’ll line manage and motivate two Project Leads who are passionate about helping supporters make a difference for Samaritans through great mass participation products and experiences. 

You’ll have proven experience in prototyping, developing, launching, and managing new fundraising products, and knowledge of trends in the sector and of what ‘best in class’ looks like in digital fundraising.  You’ll have previous line management experience. You’ll have strong communication skills, with a passion for collaboration to achieve results, and you’ll identify with Samaritans values.
