Digital Manager

We are looking for a Digital Manager to join the Digital Engagement team on a 9 month fixed-term contract. As Digital Manager, you’ll lead on the content and functionality of Samaritans’ websites and email marketing platforms to maximise our audiences’ experience of these channels. You’ll also manage the website and email team to deliver products and campaigns to grow our reach and increase engagement and conversion.

We are looking for someone on a fixed term contract manage the team and lead on development sprints whilst we work on our long-term digital engagement strategy. Samaritans is currently developing a new organisational strategy, in line with the appointment of a new CEO and Chair last year.

  • c. £40,000 pro rata plus benefits 
  • 9 month fixed term contract, starting ASAP
  • Full time - 35 hours per week
  • Linked to either our office in Ewell, Surrey or London Bridge, with majority of time spent working from home
  • We are open to flexible working requests
  • Line management of two Digital Comms Officers

Key Responsibilities

Manage and improve content and functionality for Samaritans’ websites

  • Manage and improve the content production workflow
  • Ensure content is compelling and drives conversion
  • Ensure compliance with relevant web and email standards
  • Oversee functionality enhancements and manage web development sprints
  • Support the Head of Digital with Digital Engagement strategy development

Manage major projects

  • Manage the digital aspects of major fundraising, awareness, policy and research campaigns
  • Ensure digital engagement journeys are factored in at the planning stage of major projects

Manage third-party suppliers, platforms and tools

  • Act as operational point of contact for our web development, search and PPC partners
  • Take ownership of digital platforms outside of the Samaritans ecosystem

Increase our digital reach

  • Oversee SEO and PPC activity
  • Identify content opportunities for web and email
  • Improve engagement and retention via compelling email journeys

The Person

  • Understanding of digital marketing techniques, processes and best practice
  • Expertise managing a digital content production workflow across search, web and email
  • Experience managing web development processes, preferably with experience of working in an Agile environment
  • Detailed experience working with and developing a CMS. Wagtail experience desirable but not essential
  • Strong knowledge of email marketing best practice
  • Experience of managing a high performing team
  • Demonstrable track record of successfully using data-led insights to support continuous improvement in a digital context
  • Charity sector Digital Marketing experience (highly desirable)
